Pricing & Platform Fee
How it works
There is no monthly subscription and no setup fee.
| Order type | Cost |
|---|---|
| In-store POS (counter, phone) | Free |
| Cash sales | Free |
| Online card orders | 2.5% + 30c, Stripe processing fees included |
We only charge on orders paid online through your storefront. However many orders you ring up on the in-store POS, and however many customers pay cash, you pay nothing.
Online payments are direct charges on your own Stripe account: Stripe's processing fee and the UniShopping platform fee are both deducted from the payment as it settles, so you receive one net amount and never a separate bill. There is no invoice to pay and nothing to remember.
Stripe's payment processing fees are included
The 2.5% + 30c already covers Stripe's online payment processing. Both fees come out of the same charge, so you will not receive a separate processing bill and nothing is added on top of the advertised rate. Here is exactly what makes up that figure:
| Component | Rate |
|---|---|
| Stripe online payment processing | 1.75% + 30c |
| UniShopping platform fee | 0.75% |
| Total you pay | 2.5% + 30c |
This is the rate for standard Australian debit and credit cards. American Express and overseas-issued cards are processed at Stripe's own higher rates, so the total on those orders is higher — our 0.75% share never changes.
Our 0.75% share is also the same whichever method the customer chooses. Apple Pay and Google Pay are card payments and settle at the card rate; Afterpay, Klarna and Zip are charged at your own Stripe rate on your own account, and we take no larger share on them. Sales taken at the counter — cash, Tap to Pay, a Stripe reader, or your own machine — carry no platform fee from us at all, and a card tap is billed at Stripe's card-present rate on your account.

Where the money goes
Online payments are taken as Stripe direct charges on your own Stripe account. The customer's money lands in your balance, and Stripe's processing fee for that card and our 0.75% application fee are both deducted from the payment as it settles — the same charge, the same moment, one net amount. Nothing is invoiced to you afterwards. Funds are paid out to your bank on your own Stripe payout schedule, and they never sit with us.
You can see the exact platform fee charged on each order in Settings > Payments.
Refunds
When you refund an order, our share of the fee on the refunded amount is returned as well — a full refund returns our full fee, and a partial refund returns a proportional share. Stripe's processing fee is not returned, which is standard across payment processors.
Cancelling
There is no contract and no lock-in. If you stop taking online orders, you stop paying us. Your account and data remain available.
